The Downtown Development Authority has provided the village with many wonderful renovations and additions. They have renovated the old elevator into a lovely rental hall. The old school house has two renovated rooms and acts as a museum for the village. They also updated the playground equipment in the park and added a skate park.
The first Bi-annual informational meeting was held at 7pm on July 16, 2019 Secretary of the DDA, Laura Fenton explained that we must now have bi-annual informational meetings of the DDA. These can be held in conjunction with council meetings. She then went on to explain the purpose of these meetings is to inform the public of what the DDA has accomplished in the past and plan to do in the coming six months. The DDA has converted the old elevator into a beautiful rental, which is being rented out very often. They are maintaining the building and plan to have it repainted and a few boards replaced this summer. The DDA also created a large play area and skate park at the local park. The goals for this year are to revamp the skate park with new paint, add new mulch to main play areas, and hopefully, purchase a couple new, small pieces of equipment. The old School building has also fallen under DDA care. The upstairs has been renovated and includes a school room as it used to be, many years ago. The goal is to obtain quotes to finish this project by renovating the remaining band room. Flowers downtown and at the Veteran’s memorial are provided each year by the DDA, along with the flags and Christmas decorations for downtown. The DDA is working diligently to improve and draw more business to our village.
